Off The Mark.

Dark, big in the head, thin after a long winter, and only a few ounces in weight – it wasn’t exactly the trout of an angler’s dreams. Nevertheless, this diminutive brownie, winkled out of a small beck this Saturday on the worm, was as valuable to me as if it were a fat three pounder. Regardless of size, the first fish of a new season is a symbol of hope. A comforting confirmation that one’s abilities, though a little dulled, haven’t been lost. It signifies the door opening on the spring and summer ahead, abounding with opportunity.

Here’s to the many experiences to come.
